History...

Emile Weil, a prominent New Orleans architect, designed The Canal Bank & Trust Building at 210 Baronne Street. Built in 1927, Weil used mahogany trim, Tennessee marble, travertine floors and brass embroidery to line the corridors, and he embellished the façade with limestone statues. Previously, the building housed professional offices and one of the largest banks in the South for almost 90 years. The bank lobby was built to project a sense of grandeur and scale unmatched by any other location in the city. Now, the historic bank lobby, complete with its grand columns and ornate plaster ceiling, is the Capital on Baronne.

The Capital on Baronne is one of the only venues in the downtown area that can seat 300 plus guests for a seated plated dinner all together that is not your typical hotel ballroom. Our luxury property offers the diversity to be able to accommodate up to 700 guests. Our custom floor to ceiling curtains gives you the ability to close the outer lobbies to create a more intimate feel for those groups as small as 100 guests.

Want to host your ceremony with us too no problem. Our custom-built removable walls will help to create two separate spaces. The Capital on Baronne is so much more than your traditional venue! The Capital was built in 1927 originally as Canal Bank by Emile Weil. Weil also build the historical Saenger Theatre just a few blocks away. We have been hosting weddings, parties, and events in New Orleans since 2018 and have received such amazing reviews from our clients. The Capital on Baronne is on the New Orleans National Historical Registry. Let us be part of your story.
